Drug dealers beware. The people of this area have had enough of you.

For several months police and other agencies have been working on an initiative aimed at encouraging people at Knowle Park to report drug dealing. The youngsters at Holycroft Primary School delivered leaflets around the community raising awareness of the dangers of drugs and, of course, reinforcing the message about dealers.

As a result police have taken action and seven people have been arrested, a vehicle and cash seized and £1,700 in unpaid fines collected. Police confirm that the positive results followed the intelligence received from members of the community.

What a fantastic start and what a superb example the community has set for others to follow.

The names of those who stepped forward and found the courage to give intelligence will never be known. But they need to know that an awful lot of people are grateful to them and a message of support should be sent to them.

The role of the children at Holycroft cannot be praised enough. Everyone now has a civic duty to keep faith with them and make sure this initiative goes from strength to strength.

There is one sure way of disrupting and ending the scourge of drug dealing which is affecting many aspects of life in this area.

That is for more and more people to find the confidence to get involved and ring the Crimestoppers number.
