A 27-year-old man, short of cash to buy his girlfriend a present, broke into a shop and stole 65 bottles of perfume.
But despite covering his face, David Martin, of West Lane, Keighley, was recognised on closed circuit television, magistrates in Bingley were told last Thursday.
Martin, who admitted entering as a trespasser Savers, in Keighley town centre, on January 8, was sent to jail for 56 days.
He also pleaded guilty to breaching bail by failing to appear in court on February 10.
The bench was told that Martin threw a brick through the window of the shop and removed 65 bottles of perfume, which he later sold.
Glen Chivers, for Martin, said his client was broke following the Christmas and wanted to give his girlfriend a birthday present.
