Keighley is one of only nine places in England chosen to host a successful British Library exhibition.

‘Sacred on Location’ is running at Keighley Library until the end of this month .

It explores the many links between the faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

It comprises a number of display panels and an interactive screen to enable people to virtually “turn the pages” of some of the most precious books and manuscripts held by the British Library.

Cllr Anne Hawkesworth, Bradford Council’s executive member for environment and culture, said: “This is a thought provoking exhibition that will allow everyone to discover what we share and have fun taking part in the activities and events that have been organised.”

Roger Walshe, the British Library’s head of learning, said: “We hope that Sacred on Location will inspire communities to come together to contemplate and share their ideas and beliefs, whilst also learning more about world religions.

“The programme aims to promote a greater understanding of faith in the world today and we are particularly keen for local school groups to participate as part of their religious education studies.”

Last Saturday , as part of the exhibition, Keighley Library hosted activities such as henna painting, arts and crafts and Urdu and Arabic calligraphy.

After Keighley it will be taken to Leeds and Liverpool, before finishing in Sunderland in June.
