School was magic for these children as they had a spell in a special science class.
Robert McBratney conjured up fun along with education last Thursday at Long Lee Primary School.
Robert is a member of the Magic Circle and takes his Magic Science Workshop around the district’s schools.
The “edutainer” demonstrates everyday science and basic scientific principles in a fun, magical way.
His techniques include using a vacuum cleaner, a ball and a toilet roll to explain how an aeroplane’s wings give it lift.
Robert, who calls himself Bob’s Your Uncle, said magic was a great educational tool.
He said: “If theories are delivered in a fun and exciting way they have a greater chance of sticking in the memory.”
Robert’s other workshops are The School of Magic — helping children in confidence — and Tackling Drink, Drugs, Alcohol and Substance Abuse.
