A woman facing six charges of alleged fraud has had her case adjourned because of ill health.

Rita May Palfreyman, 56, of Skipton Road, Farnhill, was not in Skipton Court on Friday to answer charges of making false representations totalling more than £600 between January 30 and March 3 2008.

Palfreyman’s defence solicitor, Glen Maude, told the bench her client had recently been discharged from hospital after having a knee replacement operation and was currently bedridden.

“After she has recovered from the knee operation they (the hospital) are going to move on to hip replacement.

“She has agreed for us to write to her GP to find out when she will be physically well enough and mentally able to deal with proceedings.

“She wants to get it out of the way,” said Miss Maude.

The bench agreed to adjourn the case until next Friday to give the defendant time to obtain a GP statement.

Unconditional bail was extended until that time.
