A vintage bus tour and refreshments will be on offer at this Sunday’s official launch of a new parish plan.

The detailed document, for Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury parish, has been in the making since 2006.

It offers a strategic vision for the three villages, identifying priorities and objectives for almost every aspect of local life.

Among the issues it addresses are commerce, leisure, tourism, education, the environment and law and order. The plan’s formation has involved an extensive consultation programme.

Residents, traders and councillors in the parish have been invited to public meetings to air their concerns and share ideas.

They also responded to a questionnaire.

Parish councillor John Huxley said the launch would be the culmination of three and a half years of very hard work.

He added: “It’ll be a big day for us. In local government terms I think this is the most important thing to happen to the three villages for a long time.

“The plan will be a living document which should be updated over the years to come.

“It will be lodged with Bradford Council and it will have to take it into consideration when making plans for our area.

“What’s also been great is that through all the consultation we’ve carried out we’ve been able to see what people think about the area and what they really want.”

The launch takes place from noon to 2pm, in the Old School Room, Church Street, Haworth.

People will have a chance to have an early view of what the plan’s final draft looks like.

As well as food and drink, a vintage bus is being provided to give people tours of the parish.

Attendance at the event is by invitation only and the organisers say all places have been filled.
