A treat was cooked up for children from Our Lady of Victories Primary School, in Keighley.

Six youngsters from the reception class were taken to Just Desserts Bakery, in Shipley, where they were given a tour and shown the baking process.

They had the chance to put cherries into trays of shortbread and ice a chocolate fudge cake.

Reception class teacher Ruth O’Dwyer said: “The children really enjoyed themselves and were excited to return back to school with some shortbread dough for the rest of the class to make biscuits for Valentine’s Day.

“They liked the special hats they had to wear, for hygiene reasons, in the bakery.

“The children were taken on the trip because they enjoy baking lots of things in school and I thought they would like to see the process on a larger scale and find out about different people’s jobs.”

She added: “They took a lot back to school from the experience and children and staff alike enjoyed the shortbread and chocolate fudge cake they made.”
