A class of primary schoolchildren did their bit for the community when they worked on designing a new logo for Glusburn and Cross Hills Parish Council’s new website.

Thirty year six pupils from Glusburn Primary School used their jotters to come up with a design, which was then judged by parish councillors.

Teacher Caroline Wright said: “The students did a little bit of research on the Internet, refined their ideas and colour schemes and had a doodle to put together a variety of intertwined letters for the logo.”

Mia Butterfield’s design was chosen as the winner and she received a book token for her efforts.

Parish council chairman Roger Nicholson said the new logo would be scanned and uploaded on to the new website at glusburn.org.uk.

“It’s critical for the school to get involved because students are the future of the community,” said Councillor Nicholson. “A project like this helps the community develop and it’s in the interests of the council to involve the younger people.”
