A Denholme student’s new photography exhibition highlights sports courses at Bradford College.
Sarah Midgley’s exhibition was launched on the same day as the college’s latest sports academies.
Sarah is in the final year of an HND in photography at BA (Hons) level and the display is part of her final project.
She was invited to highlight the varied sports provision offered at her college after impressing bosses with her sports pictures.
The college’s academies, open to anyone aged over 16, are partnerships with professional sports clubs. They let students combine sports coaching and competition programmes with vocational studies.
Academies starting in September are badminton, netball, swimming, dance, disability sports and martial arts, joining established academies in rugby, football, cricket, basketball, boxing and fitness.
The college has been nominated as a pre-games training camp venue as part of the London 2012 Olympics and the hope is that students will target the Special Olympics, Paralympics and Olympic programmes.
The academies were showcased on March 20 at the launch of Sarah’s exhibition, along with a preview of fashion degree student Gemma Wadsworth’s upcoming sports fashion show.
Sarah’s work is on display around the £20 million Trinity Green campus.
