“Grot spots” in Denholme, Harden, Cullingworth and Wilsden were cleared as part of a £50,000 clean-up.

Council workers tackled 113 problem areas across Shipley, Bingley and surrounding villages during the initiative.

Details of the Smart & Clean campaign, completed two months ago, have been revealed to Shipley Area Committee.

The Bradford Council committee recently approved a further £50,000 for a similar clean-up programme in the current financial year.

Smart & Clean activities included cleaning and structural repairs in snickets, ginnels, unadopted back streets, verges and waste ground.

Small-scale highways maintenance was carried out, including filling in potholes and resurfacing footpaths, and vegetation was cut back. Local councillors, community groups and residents were able to nominate “grot spots” for action.

Improvements included Lodge Gate, Minorca Mount, Allotment Road and Station Road/Old Road, Denholme; Cockroft Fold, Harden; footpaths between Low Wood and Birkshead, Tan House Lane and Birchlands Avenue, and Moorside Road and Dewhurst Street, all in Wilsden; Shay Lane, Wilsden; Harden Park; Flappit lay-by and Dolphin Way, Cullingworth.
