Actress Jenny Agutter, who starred in the classic film The Railway Children nearly 40 years ago, has led a charity walk at Haworth in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
On Sunday the film star journeyed from London to lead more than 100 people in the second half of the annual sponsored walk, inspired by her niece who has the condition.
The route, which starts and ends in Haworth park, takes in several locations made famous by the film.
These include the Brontë Parsonage Museum, the Tourist Information Centre — used in the film as the butcher’s shop — and Oakworth station.
Walkers could then enjoy a fun day in Haworth Park and buy signed copies of the special 40th anniversary illustrated edition of The Railway Children book, for which Miss Agutter wrote the foreword.
Tina Davis-Johnstone, for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, said copies sold for £20 each and raised £500 alone for the charity.
She said: “Another £500 was raised by one man, Phillip Powel — a huge fan of Jenny’s — who had walked 140 miles all the way from Carlisle to finish the Haworth walk with her.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to him and everyone else who helped to raise money on the day.
“I hope we have raised over £5,000 altogether.”
She also thanked Huddersfield-based Fleur-De-Lys Majorettes, who performed at the fun day free of charge and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for their support.
