The “stop smoking” team at Bradford and Airedale Community Health Services has set up a new text messaging service to help people to quit. Those who would like help or more information can text quitb to 88020.
A member of the stop smoking team will then contact them and make them an appointment, which are available at a number of locations across the district each day, from 7.30am to 8pm.
Alternatively, smokers who want to quit can drop in — no appointment necessary — at Keighley Town Hall on Thursdays, between 11am and 1pm. The team has helped more than 4,000 people from the district go smoke-free over the past year.
Lorraine Bradbury, of the stop smoking service, said: “Taking the first step to decide to stop smoking is a hard decision to make and we are trying to make this as easy as possible for people with the new text messaging service.
“Just one text message will prompt a member of the stop smoking team to get in touch and discuss the different methods that we offer to help people. I would urge anyone who wants to stop smoking to text quitb to 88020 and see how we can help them.” Also you can call 01274 202793.
