Four men are recovering after scaling a total of 3,407 metres climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in aid of Sue Ryder Care — in just a day.
Chris Cousins, Steven Hey and David Maw, all 25, from the Haworth area, were joined by friend David Klepacz, 27, from London.
The task involved climbing the National Three Peaks — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – in just 24 hours and driving more than 450 miles between the climbs.
“On Scafell the weather made things really difficult. The clouds came in around us and made navigation by cairns completely impossible. So we were forced to shelter for a couple of hours and wait for it to pass,” said Mr Maw. We completed all the walking and driving in just under 23½.
“We’re pretty happy given the conditions and I’d definitely do it again but in July next time.”
People can sponsor the four men, who are already close to raising £2,000, by visiting their online fundraising page — http://original.justgiving.com/national3peakschallenge.
