Keighley cyclist John Dennis isn’t content with riding to Germany as part of an expedition.
He’s decided to mark his 50th birthday by cycling to Malta to raise money for the same charity.
John is one of the “Hammsters” who ride to Hamm, in Germany, each year in aid of Bradford Disability Sports & Leisure.
Proceeds are spent on the group’s cycling club, as well as other sporting activities in Keighley and Bradford.
A team of riders will be going to Hamm next year.
A number of fellow Hammsters will join John — of SportKeighley — on legs of his Malta trip and provide back-up services later in the year.
He said: “I wanted to do something special for my birthday and so I decided to ride to Malta.
“I’ll still be raising money for Bradford Disability Sports and Manorlands.”
John will be among riders at Keighley Market Hall next Saturday selling £1 raffle tickets for a children’s Pro Bike Mustang, worth £180.
Proceeds will help support the third marathon trek to Hamm — Bradford’s twin city. The winning ticket will be pulled during Bradford Disability Cycling Club’s Christmas-themed get-together, in Lister Park, Bradford, on December 6.
Cyclists will dress as Santas to ride to Lister Park from Centenary Square, Bradford, where they will gather between 11.15-11.35am.
