Schools, businesses and groups across Keighley district did their bit for Children in Need.
They came up with all kinds of wacky ideas to raise funds for the annual charity appeal.
Nationally, last Friday’s extravaganza coined in over £20 million.
First-year health care trainees at Airedale Hospital dressed as Disney characters and spent their lunch hour collecting and visiting the children’s ward.
Sophie Clarkson, 17, dressed as Minnie Mouse, said: “Working in the hospital we see children who are ill and suffering and we want to help Children in Need because it is a great charity.”
l Children, aged two to four, at Harden Pre-school, Wilsden Road, Harden, came to school in fancy dress.
l Staff at Skipton Financial Services coined in £442 — almost twice the sum they raised last year. Two of the bosses, marketing director Matthew Leach and head of operations Peter Norris, did a sponsored stint on the phones.
l Silsden AFC provided a team of people to have their legs waxed for the cause, at Asda, in Keighley. The public could tear off a strip, for a £1 donation. Six players, the chairman and around ten supporters offered their services to the supermarket and helped repay the company’s sponsorship of the club.
l Children from Holycroft Primary School in Keighley raised £352. On Friday all staff and pupils paid to wear red clothes and children entered a competition to design a new bandana for Pudsey Bear.
