Two local primary schools have been awarded almost £10,000 each from the Big Lottery Fund.
Cash has gone to Our Lady of Victories School, in Keighley, and Sutton Community Primary School.
The grants are part of a £474,000 Awards For All share-out among 59 groups in Yorkshire and Humber.
Our Lady of Victories has received £9,899 to run holiday schemes over the next ten months. Between 15 and 40 students at a time will be able to attend school-based activities and trips out during school holidays.
The Sutton school has received £9,978 to develop part of its site as “Mr McGregor’s Garden” based on the Beatrix Potter character.
Fiona Beetles, the head, said there would be an allotment-type area complete with potting shed, raised beds and fruit trees.
She said: “We will be linking this development to our plans for a new school kitchen. Eventually we want to grow simple produce that can be served up as part of healthy school meals cooked on the premises.”
Vanessa White, the lottery’s Yorkshire boss, said: “Educational and professional development projects are the foundation for future progress. It is wonderful that these projects are aiding the development of the community.”
