Much-needed multi-coloured javelins, balls and cricket bats are now in the hands of gleeful Braithwaite School children thanks to a donation.
Sainsbury’s supermarket, in Keighley, handed over the sports equipment, which had been on display in the store, to the schoolchildren last week as an early Christmas present.
Braithwaite School already collects Active Kids vouchers to get sports equipment but this was an additional donation.
Public relations representative for Sainsbury’s, Julie Shaw, said: “We work very closely with Braithwaite, the children come and sing for us and it is a very deserving school.
“We have handed out over £44,000 of sports equipment to schools across Keighley through the Active Kids vouchers so far.”
Deputy head teacher at Braithwaite Vivia Tizard said the children were delighted with the new equipment.
“We never have enough equipment for children to play with and it is nice for them to have more during lunch and playtimes, so they can each play with something. It also helps to keep them active and healthy, which is very important,” she said.
