Eastburn Junior School has raised enough money to purchase two buffaloes.

Pupils sold food produce to parents after their harvest assembly and took home envelopes to collect donations for the animals.

Their efforts were to raise money to buy the farming buffaloes for Food Aid — a charity which helps to secure reliable food sources in the world’s poorest countries and reduce their dependency on aid.

Co-head teacher at Eastburn Elizabeth Pratt said: “We raised £600, which is a fantastic achievement. It is great to support a charity where you can do something concrete and that is sustainable.

“We can actually buy the animals and help people sustain themselves, which is a good insight for pupils.”
