People prepared to don a giant cat costume for a good cause have been asked to volunteer their time.

Haworth Cat Rescue is seeking those willing to serve as its “Haworth Cat” mascot for a few hours to boost fundraising during street collections before Christmas.

Campaign manager Corinne Moore said: “We’ll be in Keighley town centre on Saturday, December 12, and again on the 19th, but so far are very short-pawed.

“We simply don’t have the volunteer resources of larger groups so securing help for collection days is always an issue — and never more so than during the busy run-up to Christmas.”

Ms Moore added: “Haworth Cat is proving to be as popular with teenagers as he is with toddlers.

“Whenever he is present, it makes a significant difference to the money raised.

“We are desperate to increase our income so that we can do more to help Anyone willing to give their support should call Haworth Cat Rescue on 01535 647184 (weekdays from noon to 4pm or weekends 10.30am to 4pm) and ask to speak with Lyndsey.
