Scouting in Riddlesden is 100 years old.
And celebrations will culminate with an event this month being attended by former members and leaders.
Town mayor Councillor Margaret Ward will also be among the guests at the gathering, being staged on December 16, in the Airedale Barn, at East Riddlesden Hall.
Anyone interested in Scouting in the village is welcome to go along.
The event — which begins at 7.15pm — will include a drama presentation by the Scouts, a review of the year and awards ceremony. Some findings from research into the history of Scouting in Riddlesden will be presented. Current Scout leader Daniel Mosby has compiled a booklet chronicling the three groups which existed in the village. The present group, 2nd Keighley 2nd Riddlesden, was formed from an amalgamation in 2003.
The evening will also be used to launch a five-year development plan.
Daniel said: “Scouting in Riddlesden started in 1909 when a group of young people got together and founded their own Scout troop. In the century that followed Scouting in Riddlesden has flourished and today more than 90 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and adults are part of the adventure.”
Several activities, such as camps, have been held throughout the year to mark the centenary. For further information about the December 16 event visit riddlesdenscouts.org.uk or phone 07963 147404.
