Two schools in Sri Lanka have received a visit to cement ties with two South Craven schools.
Chantelle Conlan, head of geography at South Craven School, and Derek Blackwell, extended schools co-ordinator, toured Udispattuwa Central College and Dharma Wickrama Girls’ College — both located in the town of Kandy.
The former has been linked with South Craven School and the latter with Kildwick Primary School.
The South Craven staff took along games devised by their students and photographs and videos of daily life in Yorkshire.
In return, pupils from Dharma Wickrama put together a collection of their own photos, which will be used in activities at Kildwick School, together with a presentation about a Buddhist festival.
The Yorkshire visitors also sat in on lessons, talked about school life in England and enjoyed a dance and music performance.
They offered their thanks to the Sri Lankan school link teachers who made their stay possible, adding that they had been “overwhelmed” with the hospitality provided.
