A popular, atmospheric two days of Christmas festivities will light up the winter gloom in Haworth.
Locals and visitors alike are invited to attend this coming Torchlit Weekend.
Saturday is Candlemass Eve and will see Mr and Mrs Santa lead an illuminated procession down Main Street accompanied by the Holly Queen, morris dancers, choirs and bands.
The parade starts at the top of Main Street, at 3pm, and will end with carol singing around the Christmas tree at the bottom of the street. The Sunday torchlight procession will begin at 5.15pm.
Hundreds of torch and lantern bearers are expected to participate, accompanied by choirs and bands.
These will slowly wend their way up from the bottom of Main Street to the parish church.
A traditional carol service will then be held in the church, which can only accommodate a limited number of visitors. The service is due to finish at about 7.15pm.
The weekend, along with the rest of Haworth’s public Christmas celebrations, is organised by members of the Haworth Village Association.
l Cross Roads has extra festive cheer this year.
The village’s Christmas tree has been illuminated for the first time in over five years.
The venture is thanks to funding from the parish council and Bradford Council, with support from Councillor Glen Miller.
The “carols around the tree” event will take place on Tuesday, at 6.30pm, when the local school choir and residents will celebrate together.
Children can decorate the lower parts of the tree.
