Worth Valley Conservative councillor Peter Hill has been named as the next Lord Mayor of Bradford.

Councillor Hill has represented the Worth Valley ward on the council for the past five years and has been a member of the Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council for eight years. He will be sworn in as Lord Mayor on May 18 and his wife, Gillian, will become the Lady Mayoress.

Cllr Hill has lived in Haworth for 37 years with his family and has been involved with a number of local committees, including the Haworth three-day Pageant in the 1980s. He also started a Worth Valley First Responders group last year which now has 14 active members. He responds to 999 calls with his wife, who is a trained responder.

Cllr Hill has also been a police volunteer for the past seven years working at the Worth Valley Police and Community Contact Point, in Haworth.

He said: “Gillian and I are looking forward to my year as Lord Mayor of Bradford and it will be a great honour for us to serve our city.”

Cllr Hill is chairman of the Bradford Licensing Committee and deputy chairman of the Keighley Licensing Panel. He also serves on other committees on behalf of the council.
