Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a sheep on its way to college!
It’s “shear” good luck that Keighley News photographer Bob Smith caught this snap of Shorn.
He’s the mascot of the Keighley Campus of Leeds City College and a new icon for Keighley.
He and the rest of his flock will be colourfully decorated and placed around the town next year. The full-size sheep sculptures have been constructed at the college’s Harold Town annex, in Dalton Lane.
Shorn was this month moved to the main North Street college campus by his “shepherds”.
Jo Whitehead and Rifat Bashir, pictured, run the college’s Arts Factory gallery and are masterminding the Shorn project.
Funding for the project has come from Bradford Council’s Heritage Initiatives Fund.
Local businesses or organisations wishing to sponsor a sheep should email rifat.bashir@leedscitycollege.ac.uk.
