East Morton residents are to be asked for their opinions on how to stop speeding traffic.

Letters will be sent to all residents next month asking for their views on a number of options.

The results will be analysed to find a solution to the long-term problem in the village. The questionnaire follows a police Speedwatch last month in which 22 motorists exceeded the 20mph speed limit.

The fastest vehicle was travelling at 32mph and several drivers were warned they were misusing their fog lamps. The neighbourhood policing team has pledged to continue regularly monitoring vehicle speeds through East Morton.

Agencies met recently to discuss the problem, including police, Bradford Council highways department and Keighley area co-ordinator’s office.
