An Oakworth woman has praised builders who rescued her family after she crashed her car in a snowstorm.
Dawn Smith was driving from Colne to Oakworth on Friday with daughters Hannah, 11, and Bethany, 13.
She encountered snow on the moors near Scartop and crashed into an abandoned car on a corner.
Mrs Smith phoned police for help but said that after 90 minutes officers had not arrived.
Four men from Ellison Construction, of Oxenhope, who had been passing in their van, offered to help.
The men pushed the car first to the Grouse Inn then to the Smiths’ home at Hillside Grove. Mrs Smith said: “They were heroes. They took off their coats and gave them to the kids.”
