A Steeton man who admitted taking a car without the owner’s consent was ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work.
Kevin Tones, 38, admitted at Skipton Magistrates’ Court taking the Citroen Saxo and driving it on Keighley Road, Cowling, without insurance. He had also admitted at an earlier hearing, driving the car without a licence.
Tones, of Elmsley Street, also admitted driving a Peugeot 306 on Holme Lane, Sutton, without a licence and without insurance.
He further admitted claiming at Elmsley Street that he had a full driving licence and no convictions in order to get insurance.
On Wednesday last week, magistrates gave Tones a 12-month community order for taking a car without the owner’s consent and giving false information in order to get insurance.
He was ordered to carry out 150 hours’ unpaid work and to attend a responsible road users group.
In addition, he received six points each for both driving without insurance charges — resulting in a 12-month ban.
He was ordered to pay £150 costs.
