Police are stepping up patrols in Keighley town centre from tomorrow to ensure New Year celebrations are trouble-free.
And revellers have been warned that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
Chief Superintendent Allan Doherty, of Airedale and North Bradford Police, said: “People can go out, have a drink and enjoy themselves but we would also like them to show some common sense and not drink to excess or become involved in trouble.
“If you do you could well wake up in a cell or in an accident and emergency department and that would be a poor start to anyone’s New Year.”
The operation marks the culmination of several Christmas-related police initiatives in the division, including drink and drug-drive checks and crime-reduction measures.
Also, licensed premises have been visited and test purchases carried out over the past month to deter the sale of alcohol to young people.
