A Silsden man today said he was “stunned” to receive an MBE in the New Year Honours List.
Colin Smith, 58, a retained firefighter at the Silsden station for 36 years, was recognised for services to local government.
He said: “I thought it might be a practical joke - it’s a bit of a shock really!”
