Bronte fans can tour the writers’ home by candlelight on the next two Tuesdays.
The Bronte Parsonage Museum has arranged the festive guided tours on November 30 and December 7.
The evenings, which begin at 7pm, will include mulled wine and other seasonal treats. People can visit the museum library – which is not usually open to the public – to see Bronte treasures at close quarters.
Andrew McCarthy (pictured), the museum director, said the parsonage was always decorated for advent with traditional holly and ivy. He hoped the evening tours would capture something of Christmas past for visitors.
He said: “This will be a very special experience to see the period rooms of the house also lit by candles.
“It’s very atmospheric and gives an even greater sense of the house as a home.
“In the Brontes’ time Christmas was, of course, a religious festival, without all the commercial emphasis we have now.”
Places on the tours cost £14 and must be booked in advance.
