Oakworth secured the Division One title on the ground of last year’s champions Haworth.

The Bronte side were restricted to 125 by a fine piece of bowling by Michael Scarborough, who finished with 8-43 as Dan Trowers made 42 and Richard Ellis 31.

Brannan Lawn (87no) led the successful run chase as Oaks clinched their title-winning victory by six wickets, Damian Rowell finishing with 4-44.

Cullingworth moved up to second place on Sunday as they overcame Ingrow St John’s by two wickets at Street Lane.

The Saints batted first and made 166, with Ahtasham Raza top-scoring on 44 helped by Omar Khatab (41).

Evergreen David Robinson took 4-44 but he was overshadowed by an excellent spell of bowling by 17-year-old James Rogers, who finished with 4-22 off 4.5 overs.

It was another youngster, 15-year-old Will Grace, who took the batting honours for the Roydwood Terrace side as he top-scored with 39 to go with 36 from Luke Taylor and 32 by Steve Welch. S Khan was the best bowler with 3-22.

A day earlier, Cullingworth had moved into third place with a bad light-enforced draw against Bingley Congs at Roydwood Terrace. The Beckfoot Lane side made 229-6, with Tom Keighley scoring 74, Chris Hemsley 49 and Alex Bradbury 38no as Dave Robinson finished with 3-39.

Steve Welch (36) and Adie Powis (33) had steered the home side to 163-6 when play was halted in the gathering gloom.

Ingrow St John’s staged a superb recovery down at Crossflatts to secure the points.

The Saints were languishing on 105-8 when Nadeem Safdar joined Deepal Dissanayate and the pair put on 168 for the ninth wicket, which helped the total to a mammoth 275-9.

Shell-shocked Flatts battled bravely to close on 177, with Amer Ayub hitting 66 as Wasim Hussain claimed 6-34.

There were two basement battles played out, with Bradley entertaining Thornton and Embsay at home to Foulridge.

Thornton rattled up 252-6 as Kevin Pollard scored 75 and Dave Scothern 71, while Chris Bowker blasted 51 off 14 balls.

Phil Binner claimed 5-86 before the Matthews Lane side were dismissed for 170, with Neil Andrews making 37 and James Heseltine 34.

At Shires Lane, Embsay slipped from 76-1 to 154 all out as John Lambert took 7-47. The Noyna side looked to be creeping to the line but closed eight runs short as Scott Robinson took 7-58.

Haworth Road went down by one wicket at home to Barrow-ford.

Division Two leaders Cowling went down to a surprise four-wicket defeat at Wilsden.

The Keighley Road side were hustled out for a modest 138, with M Kiyani taking 5-41. Stuart Wilson’s 72 saw the Windy Grove side to the points.

Second-placed Riddlesden closed to within a point when they travelled to Pendle Forest and won by 103 runs. The Grange Road side totalled 176-9 in their innings as A Waheed took 5-26. Then M Zulfiqar claimed 6-34 to have the Fence side back in the hut for just 73.

Neil Freeman (73) and J Baker (36) saw Glusburn make 210-8 at Park Field. Then visitors Long Lee were dismissed for 148, Jan Haider top-scoring with 34 as Mark Pickles took 5-76.

There was a tie in the game between Airedale and Oakworth II. The Brad-ford Road side made 160, with veteran Trevor Cox making 40 and Matthew Cox and Joe Milner both scoring 33 as Ollie Stell took 4-34.

The Cure Hill side were staring at defeat on 88-7. Then Jack Ellis (36), Stell (40) and Jordan Powell (29) took them to the brink of victory, only for Matthew Cox to bowl Stell with the scores level. Lee Rickerby finished with 4-37 and Cox a crucial 3-7 off 3.5 overs.

Denholme entertained Sutton and, going first, made 214-9, with Richard Taylor scoring 48, Toby Priestley 41 and Matt Wear 32. The Royd Hill side replied with 186 as Kane Booker made 41, Ben Bolland 32 and Tony Walton 28, with Wear taking 3-21.

Skipper Mark Price (72) and Sean Humphreys (41) led Ingrow’s charge to 201-6 at Barrowford II. The Bull Holme side could only manage 133 in reply, with skipper Jonny Ormerod making 37 as Price took 3-11, Ian Roberts 3-34 and Chris Herbert 3-35.

Glusburn gained the local bragging rights when they beat neighbours Sutton on Sunday by five wickets.

Five players got into the twenties for the Royd Hill side as they made 163-9 in their overs, with Mark Pickles taking 6-81. Opener James Tillotson anchored the reply with 48no and put on a match-winning 44 with M Desgranges, who made 32no. This keeps Glusburn in third place with an outside chance of snatching promotion.

Sunday’s other match saw Den-holme’s recent run of good form continue when they won at Long Lee by just seven runs.

The Keighley Road side had the man of the match in Matty Wear. First he top-scored with 42 and Toby Priestley made 32 as they set a target of 150, Shabaz Ahmed taking 4-38. Then Wear took 5-21 and Luke Pickles 4-41, which had the Golden View side back in the hut for 143, with Richard Ayrton making 38 and Matt Taylor 32.
