Oakworth’s Zara Knappy won team gold with England on Saturday in the British and Irish Junior Mountain Running Home International Champ-ionships held in the Achray Forest in Aberfoyle, Scotland.
She finished seventh overall in the under-20 junior women 4.5km race, with a 275-metre climb, completing the course in a time of 27min 11secs, despite a tumble on the challenging descent.
The Keighley & Craven athlete was a member of the four-strong England A team, whose other runners finished first, fourth and fifth.
That was enough to see England beat their international counterparts from Scotland, Wales and Ireland to team gold.
The event saw England success across the other age categories too, which resulted in the squad lifting the overall event trophy to repeat last year’s success.
Two other local runners, James Hall (Wharfedale Harriers) and Emile Cairess (Bingley Harriers), also came home with medals, both finishing third in their respective age categories.
