KEIGHLEY fighter Muhammad Ali suffered disappointment at the AIBA World Championships in Doha as a cut ended his competition at the quarter-final stage.
Ali looked to be in control of his clash with second seed Elvin Mamishzada in the 52kg category, comfortably using his reach against the normally aggressive Azerbaijani.
Unfortunately the British boxer, who is a member of Bury Amateur Boxing Club, appeared to lean forward and catch his opponent's head, resulting in a bad cut.
Mamishzada continued to struggle to cope with Ali's height and reach but, after two inspections of the injury, the bout was stopped and the Azerbaijani was rewarded a win via a technical knockout.
