COUGARS stand-off Ritchie Hawkyard was left needing plastic surgery after suffering horrific facial injuries in a clash of heads with Hunslet's Jimmy Watson.
The Kingstone Press League One game on Good Friday, which saw Keighley win 20-12, was delayed for a lengthy period to allow both men to receive treatment before being substituted.
Hawkyard received surgery on his mouth over the weekend and was awaiting X-Ray results on his cheekbone and jaw to determine if there was any further damage.
Watson was left with concussion and a deep cut above his left eye.
Cougars had posted two pictures of their player after the match, which prompted a wealth of sympathetic responses.
