SILSDEN moved up to second place in the Premier Division of the Hallmark Security League as they maintained their unbeaten start with a 4-2 home victory over Winsford United, who ended the game with nine men.
The Cobbydalers looked comfortable with a two-goal lead midway through the first half after Lee Spires’ quickfire brace but the visitors hit back through Sam Howel before a late first-half dismissal.
The Cheshire side’s ten men hit back when Michael Koral scored a 51st-minute equaliser but ten minutes later Kyle Hancock fired Silsden back in front.
An incident that led to a mass gathering resulted in another of the Winsford players getting his marching orders, but the nine men came on strong towards the end before Aaron Davis netted in stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt.
Steeton continue to impress in Division One and they banked another three points with a 5-3 home win over Atherton LR, with the visitors also having a man sent off.
Ben Clarkson opened the scoring at Cougar Park in the 15th minute, but the visitors hit back with a brace from Henoc Mukendi.
Aaron Hollindrake then restored parity before the Atherton keeper was sent off in first-half stoppage time for handling outside his area.
With no keeper on their bench, Atherton played the second half with an outfield player in goal, and the Chevrons plundered three more goals.
Liam Blades netted before Clarkson bagged his brace, and Andy Briggs made it a nap hand for the home side, but there was still time for Mukendi to claim his hat-trick in the 85th minute.
Steeton are back at Cougar Park today when they host Shelley, while Silsden are at Charnock Richard.
