Dougie Lampkin of Silsden is set to begin his search for a record breaking eighth outdoor title as part of the Italian team Beta.
Lampkin said: "I am pleased to be reunited with Beta once again, and I am looking forward to the 2008 season and the challenge that lies ahead."
"My first competitive outing with Beta will be at the opening round of the World Indoor series in Marseille, France on the 18th of this month."
"That gives us just under three weeks to be ready, so it is going to be a very hectic start to the year for both me and the team."
Lapo Bianchi of Betamotor SpA said: "The Lampkin comeback represents a great opportunity for us. Besides his riding skills, everybody knows that Dougie's experience will be positive for all team members."
