A number of Keighley area riders put in solid performances in the fifth and final round of the 2007-2008 British Cycling Cyclo-Cross National Trophy series held at Derby on Sunday.

The final round was held on a damp and very windy day with some exciting racing around the muddy and technically challenging course at the town's college.

Solid rides in the final round helped some local riders to secure a place in the final rankings.

In the youth race, while Sam Harrison won on the day, Thomas Moses of Oakworth pipped Luke Gray for second. However Gray won the overall series, and Moses had to settle for second.

The real drama on the day, however, saw Otley rider Oliver Webster knock his friend, Keighley's Paul Young, out of an overall third place finish in the youth rankings.

Webster edged out Young to finish fourth on the day, which meant Joshua Papworth's overall points were good enough to beat Young to a third place finish.

Former Keighley man Rob Jebb cruised home to a third place finish in the elite men's race. His ride secured him second place in the overall standings.

Keighley's Chris Young had a fourth place finish in the V40 on Sunday, which was good enough to secure him third place in the overall standings.

Bingley's Hannah Shenton had a good ride in the girls' race, finishing second. She placed third in the overall rankings.

Results on the day and overall final standings for the five-round series are as follows:
