BINGLEY TOWN are beginning to find their feet after a disappointing start to their Craven League Premier Division season.
After winning two of their opening 10 matches, the Marley-based side recorded back-to-back wins on Saturday in an evenly-matched contest against Carleton Sports Club First, with Jordan Bayliss’ 29th-minute strike setting them on their way to a 2-1 victory.
Mish Allen and Will Leeming condemned Cowling First to a fifth defeat of the campaign as they lost 2-1 at home to Cononley Sports Club First, whilst Silsden Whitestar First are just one point behind leaders AFC Barnoldswick First after edging out Skipton Town First 1-0.
Grassington United Reserves were the big scorers in Division 1, with Nicholas Breckon and David Greenwood both scoring twice in a 7-1 thrashing of iPlay First.
Elsewhere, Silsden Whitestar Reserves’ afternoon went from bad to worse as Tom Lohan suffered a broken fibula in their defeat at runaway leaders AFC Crossleys First, with a Sam Cole hat-trick helping the hosts to a dominant 6-0 win.
Salts 3rds moved up to fourth after they comfortably beat Settle United Reserves 3-1, whilst nothing could separate Chatburn First and Ingleton First in a 1-1 draw.
With Division 2 leaders Padiham Juniors seeing their match against Sutton First postponed, Barnoldswick Barons Senior Open Age missed the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the table after losing 3-1 at home to Crosshills Reserves.
Kallum Kirk ensured that Otley Town 3rds picked up their second win of the season against Barlick Wanderers First, whilst Elliot Masher made a near-instant impact off the bench to earn Grindleton First a 1-1 draw at Hellifield Sports Club First.
Goals were flowing in Division Three, with Carleton Sports Club claiming a valuable three points after beating iPlay 2nds in an eight-goal thriller thanks to braces from Tommi Oddie and Shay Packer.
Rolls Reserves also had no problems finding the back of the net in their 4-1 win against fellow promotion hopefuls AFC Crossleys Reserves, with the prolific Daniel Paton now division top-scorer after a well-taken hat-trick.
Elsewhere, Henry Brewis, Tom Coe, and Liam Finney were all on the scoresheet as Weston Lane Juniors eased to a 3-1 victory at home to Otley Town 4ths, whilst Cononley Sports Club 2nds raced into a 2-0 half-time lead to beat Sutton Reserves by the same score-line in an evening kick-off.
