IT WAS a great weekend for a pair of Keighley professional boxers, who both recorded victories in the ring.
Ibrahim Nadim fought experienced Ghanaian Raymond Commey at the AJ Bell Stadium in Eccles, in a super bantamweight contest over six rounds.
Commey had 19 professional wins to his name going into the fight, but he had been on a nasty losing streak and he failed to arrest that against Nadim.
Nadim’s last fight had been against journeyman Romanian Stefan Nicolae in October, so this was always likely to be a step up for him.
But the 22-year-old showed no fear and eventually won the bout on points, giving him his fifth professional victory from five fights.
He was not alone in winning last weekend though, with Riddlesden boxer Liam O’Reilly also coming out on top.
He fought against debutant George Sutcliffe in a welterweight clash over four rounds.
It was O’Reilly’s fourth professional fight, and like two of the previous three, it was held at Municipal Hall in Colne.
And the 33-year-old remains unbeaten, after beating opponent Sutcliffe via technical knockout.
