IT HAS been a busy few days of news for non-league football in Bradford and its surrounding areas.
Aside from Bradford (Park Avenue), Guiseley and Farsley Celtic in the National League North, only Albion Sports, Liversedge and Steeton were able to play at the weekend.
Campion, Brighouse Town and Silsden all had their games called off due to waterlogged pitch, as did Thackley, who were due to host their NCEL Premier Division derby against Eccleshill United at Dennyfield.
The two clubs have moved quickly to rearrange what is one of the most exciting fixtures on Bradford’s non-league calendar, with the game now due to be played on Tuesday, February 9 (7:45pm kick-off).
Both are back in league action this weekend, with mid-table Thackley at Athersley Recreation, and title-chasing Eccleshill hosting Barton Town.
Albion are due to have a free weekend, but they need all the match practice they can get, as they battle to avoid relegation from the NCEL Premier Division.
They are therefore looking for a friendly against either a fellow Step 5 club this weekend, or a Step 6 one.
Albion have not made any new signings since bringing in defender Cole Patrick from Athersley Recreation 10 days ago, but there are transfers going on elsewhere, with Silsden seeing Luke Brooksbank leave the club to join Emley.
As for Silsden's rivals Steeton, they will be playing at Ilkley Town in the first round of the NWCFL First Division Cup on Tuesday, February 22 (7:45pm kick-off), while they will travel to Barnoldswick Town in the first round of the Macron Cup on Wednesday, March 16 (7:45pm kick-off).
Campion host Bury AFC on the same date and time as Steeton face Ilkley in the First Division Cup, while the Red and Blacks’ Macron Cup first round on Tuesday, March 15 (7:45pm kick-off).
Finally, Brighouse Town midfielder Danny Racchi has retired from football due to injury.
