Keighley Cougars will host local Super League Bradford Bulls in a much anticipated pre-season derby at Cougar Park on Sunday.

The Cougars should be more than ready for the Bulls after last Sunday's game against Leigh Centurions had to be cancelled due to a United Utilities mains electricity cable failure that left Hilton Park without power.

Cougars' head coach Barry Eaton said: "Apparently a cable failure shorted all the electricity in the place.

"It was an enforced day off. While we would have preferred the game to go ahead, fortunately we've had plenty of friendlies for the squad to get some game time under their belt."

When the Bulls come to town this Sunday, there should be no shortage of electricity for the Cougar Park kick-off at 3pm.

With the two teams competing for the Joe Phillips Memorial Trophy, Eaton is hoping for a crowd of more than 3,000 to turn out for the game.

He said: "Last year over 2,000 people watched the game on a Friday night. This year it would be nice to hit the 3,000 mark. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us.

"It's going to be a great occasion for the club. Our players will be pitting their wits against some of the best players in the world."

Eaton is expecting Bulls' boss Steve McNamara to put out a strong squad, as the fixture will be their last of the pre-season before their Super League campaign kicks off on February 10 at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Although Eaton said that one or two Cougars will be disappointed not to feature this weekend, he is still planning to play at least 22 members of his squad.

One player who is certain to feature in Eaton's plans for the start of their National Rail Cup campaign at White-haven on February 3 is new signing Neil Lowe, who has been in stellar form in the pre-season. However, Lowe may miss out this weekend with a minor hand ligament injury.

Two players returning to the line-up on Sunday will be Richard Knight and Oliver Pursglove, who have both missed recent games because of injuries.
