HIGH winds, rain and hailstones battered Airedale and Wharfedale last Sunday, especially high above East Morton, where the Yeadon-Guiseley club managed to stage the annual Cobb and Jagger Trophy Trial for 114 competitors.
The event also counted in the Yorkshire Centre Trials Championship series, where, ironically the winner travelled from Buxton, as Harry Turner once again planted his Birkett Scorpa at the top of the results page.
The 14-section, three-lap trial tracked previous events at Upwood Hall Farm with opening sections below the ancient stone packhorse bridge.
Gavin Black rode and won Clubman A but non-competitive so Healaugh's Katy Sunter took the class with a 13-mark loss.
Husband Dan and brother John were ninth and 13th on the championship course.
Chimney sweep Phil Hammond, from Darley, continued his victory run on his 250 Sherco by winning Clubman B from BSA mounted Robin Luscombe and Falcon's Steven Fowler. All three posted a four score so it was decided by tie-breaker who got what.
