Young Harry Tosney of Eastburn Boxing Club was named best boxer of the night when the club hosted a boxing evening at Bradford City Football Club last Thursday.

The 12-year-old Tosney, who has never lost a bout on home ground, boxed brilliantly throughout the contest against Brad Mitchison of Doncaster Plant Works and earned a unanimous points win. Tosney also won Best Eastburn Boxer of the Night.

Debutant Mohammed Ali boxed a fast paced bout and threw far more punches than his opponent John Gaskin of Highfields Doncaster, but Gaskin landed the scoring shots to give him a split decision over Ali.

Jonas Denby boxed Mark Devanny of Karmand Bradford and Ben Whiteoak boxed Moshin Ashrad of Woodseats Sheffield, but both Eastburn boys lost on points.

Also in the ring were Keighley Amateur Boxing Club boxers Majid Ayub and Nathan Brearley.

Ayub had a rematch with Dawood Zamir of Bradford Police Boys.

The Keighley boxer won a majority decision last time out, but boxed far better this time, and went out a clear winner.

Brearley boxed Ryan O'Hagan of Preston but after a good start Brearley faded at the later stages of the contest and lost on points.

The best overall boxer went to Liam Walsh of Cleckheaton who won his bout with Patrick Gavin of Preston.

"The evening was a great success," said organiser Paul Doust of Eastburn Boxing Club. "We weren't let down by any trouble. It's been less than a year since our last show at Skipton which led to police being called due to fighting, but we made sure of no repeat and had three times the security than last time out.

l Keighley ABC will hold their boxing dinner show at Victoria Hall in Keighley on Friday, February 15.
