Keighley Ladies 0 Morley Spurs 4
The County Cup gave Keighley their last chance of any silverware this season In drawing Morley Spurs in the quarter-final, a team currently unbeaten in the league's Premier Division, it was going to be a tall order for the ladies.
There was hope as Keighley had pushed Morley all the way in the FA Cup earlier in the season.
Morley edged the game 5-3 in the dying minutes of extra time.
Keighley made one change to the line-up from the previous week with Kim Robinson replacing Fatima Khatun.
Morley started the game in a positive fashion and pushed Keighley back.
In the 15th minute Morley took a lead when Robinson slipped and allowed a cross to come in from the left. A scramble ensued in the Keighley area which resulted in a goal for Morley.
Keighley were resilient at the back but had little drive going forward, with the excellent Morley defence stopping any opportunity Keighley tried to conjure up.
After 39 minutes it got worse for Keighley when a simple through ball allowed a Morley striker a one-on-one opportunity which was dispatched with great authority to extend Morley's lead.
Keighley's half-time team talk was about being positive and trying to encourage the team to have a go at Morley.
But try as they might Keighley couldn't crack the Morley defence and on the hour mark Morley made it 3-0 with a shot from the edge of the area that deceived Kelly Jordan in the Keighley goal.
After 70 minutes things got worse for Keighley when Amy Phelan was sent off after skirmish in which the Morley player was lucky to escape any punishment.
Three minutes later and the game was over when an excellent shot from just inside the Keighley area flew past Jordan into the far corner.
Keighley Ladies manager Neil Farley said: "This was a harsh lesson. Despite plenty of commitment and effort from the Keighley team it was master class from Morley. The team now know what's required to play at the next level, a target we are working towards."
