IBRAHIM Nadim may well get that coveted shot at an English title sooner rather than later, after the Keighley boxer impressed on Saturday night in Oldham.
The 23-year-old featherweight took his professional record to 9-0, delivering a second-round technical knockout victory over Romanian opponent Alexandru Ionita (7-16-1).
Nadim, who is trained by British boxing icon Ricky Hatton, won his first seven pro fights on points, but both of his last two victories have been via technical knockout.
He brought down John Spencer in the final round over their bout in July, but finished the job even earlier on Saturday night, knocking down his opponent midway through the second.
Ionita is two years older than Nadim, and both weighed in at around 126lb for the fight.
But Nadim had a significant height advantage, as he is 5ft 10ins, while the diminutive Ionita is only 5ft 3ins.
