KEIGHLEY potter Chris Melling is attempting to win the World 9-ball Pool Championship this week in Poland.
The Matchroom event is taking place in Kielce, Poland, and gets underway today.
Melling is seeded 42nd for the tournament, and begins his title tilt against Vietnamese player Duong Quoc Hoang in the last-128.
The Keighley native's previous best effort at the flagship world event in 9-ball pool was a quarter-final appearance in 2013.
Forty-six countries will be represented at the event, with the 128-player field being whittled down to a last-64 over the first two days action, before a straight knockout format leads all the way to Sunday's final.
America's Shane Van Boening, the number one seed, is looking to defend his crown, after beating Austria's Albin Ouschan in the 2022 final.
The tournament is being broadcast in the UK on Sky Sports.
