A NUMBER of defensive errors saw Silsden slip to a fourth straight defeat in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, as they were beaten 3-0 by lowly Frickley Athletic at The Office Interiors Stadium last night.
Cobbydalers goalkeeper Sam Kelly gifted the visitors their opener, as his miskick allowed Bradford (Park Avenue) loanee Lloyd Smith to score on 33 minutes, before a Sam Bradley own goal compounded the home side's woes.
Alhassane Keita made it 3-0 with a brilliant solo effort in the second half, with the result seeing the hosts slip down to ninth in the table.
Silsden got off to a bright start, and there was little sign of the woes that were to come.
Mark Hoban fired an effort wide from the edge of the box, while Sumaili Cissa could only shoot straight at Frickley stopper Harrison Davison-Hale.
Cissa had another chance moments later, but his powerful drive was wonderfully tipped behind by the keeper.
Despite those early opportunities for the hosts, a mistake from Kelly gifted Athletic the lead.
His shanked clearance dropped to Smithm who had the simple task of placing the ball into an empty goal.
After the break, things got even worse for the home side.
A looping Frickley free-kick was miscontrolled by Bradley, who inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for 2-0.
The Cobbydalers' misery was complete on 68 minutes.
Keita set off on a wonderful run from inside his own half before carrying the ball into the box and lifting a delightful lob over Kelly for Frickley's third.
Late attempts for Silsden from both Chinedu Osadebe and Talent Ndlovu both came to nothing, meaning the visitors were able to take the three points back to South Yorkshire.
Up next for Silsden is another home fixture, this time against high-flying Emley AFC on Saturday.
That encounter kicks off at the earlier than usual time of 1:30pm.
