SILSDEN were unable to put an end to their losing run in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division on Saturday as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat against high-flying Emley at The Office Interiors Stadium.
The visiting side found themselves with a two-goal advantage before the break thanks to an Alex Metcalfe spot kick and a Junayd Cassius-Gill tap in.
Despite Silsden looking better in the second half, creating some good opportunities, a Rikki Paylor header secured the three points for the third-placed Pewitts.
That means the Cobbydalers have now lost seven of their last eight league games, a horror run that has seen them slide down into mid-table.
Silsden did at least get off to a positive start on Saturday afternoon.
A long ball found Jack Normanton ,who looked destined to score, only for him to trip over the ball just as he was about to shoot.
That sort of luck that has summed up the Silsden's recent form, and things got even worse a few minutes later, when Emley were awarded a penalty after Jacob Smith felled Iryah Gooden.
Metcalfe did the business from 12 yards, leaving the Cobbydalers chasing yet another game at an early stage.
Cassius-Gill added to the home side's misery on 31 minutes, finding himself completely unmarked and keeping his composure to finish off a low cross at the back post.
Just before half-time, Emley almost grabbed their third goal, but Silsden goalkeeper Kyle Welsh producing a stunning diving stop to prevent Joe Kenny’s powerful volley from finding the net.
After the break, the hosts began to create some chances.
Jake Maltby held up the ball well on a number of occasions, before laying off to both Mark Hoban and Harry Thompson to test Dec Lambton in the Emley goal.
Young Cobbydalers fullback Alex Stewart then denied Gooden his 19th goal of the campaign with a smart goal line clearance on 68 minutes.
The third goal for Emley came just four minutes later however.
Pewitts centre half Paylor rose highest from a corner and headed the ball beyond Welsh, with the home keeper unable to get their after he appeared to have been pulled down inside his own six-yard box.
With the three points already secured, Emley looked to see out the game, with Talent Ndlovu’s missed free-kick the only real opportunity for the Cobbydalers in the final 10 minutes.
Silsden are now sat in ninth, with a Bradford District derby awaiting them on Saturday, as they make the trip to Albion Sports for a 3pm kick-off.
