KEIGHLEY potter Chris Melling has been knocked out of the European Open in dramatic fashion.
The pool ace was taking part in one of Matchroom’s marquee events of the year, and played four dramatic matches, missing out on the last-64 by the narrowest of margins.
The event in Germany brought together the world’s best, and Melling started brightly, beating local favourite Yuma Dorner 9-7 in his opening game.
The Keighley ace was given a tough ride in round two as well, edging out Albanian talent Kledio Kaci 9-8.
In round three, Melling’s progress was halted in his tracks, as Germany’s Con Salim took charge and beat him 9-4.
The Keighley star still had one last chance to ensure a spot in the last-64, as he took on Finland’s Mika Immonen.
But in a titanic tussle, the Finn came out on top, winning 9-8 to send the veteran Brit spiralling out of the tournament.
