ARFAN Dad and regular playing partner Craig Waddingham narrowly missed out on the Ultimate Pool Pairs Cup semi-finals on Monday night.
The duo won their initial group in September, which put them into the last-16, in a format of four groups of four.
The other three semi-final pairs had already been decided ahead of Monday, with Dad and Waddingham’s the last of the four groups to be played.
Keighley native Dad helped his teammate to a 4-3 win in their opener, as they sunk Adam Bassoo and Dave Fernandez.
But an agonising 3-2 defeat to Irish duo Stevie Dempsey and Karl O’Donoghue put Dad and Waddingham on the back foot.
That left the pair needing a victory over Pete Fisher and Michael Tomlinson to have a chance of progressing into the last-four, but they lost that game 3-2 as well.
Dempsey and O’Donoghue ensured they progressed ahead of Fisher and Tomlinson, the Irishmen drawing the final game of the night 2-2 with Bassoo and Fernandez to ensure they finished on five points.
Fisher and Tomlinson were second in the group with four points, Dad and Waddingham third on two, while Bassoo and Fernandez brought up the rear on one.
